Where This Guide Fits
We have published a lot about shipping in Benin City. This article is a neighbourhood guide for the communities that branch off Auchi Road — the estates, junctions and residential areas that feed into the corridor.
If you are looking for a general guide to the corridor as a whole, see DHL on Benin-Auchi Road: Where to Send Packages. That article covers the corridor in a wider sense — the road itself, the AU Motor Park office, turn-by-turn directions from the main approaches and the full operational guide.
This article focuses on where people actually live. If you are in Ogba Zoo axis, Ogba, Iyowa, Eyaen, Ulegun, Obadan, Ahor, Orior or any smaller community feeding into Auchi Road, this guide tells you the nearest office, how to get there from your specific area, and how to ship without ever leaving your street.
What "Around Auchi Road" Means
Auchi Road runs north-east out of Benin City towards Auchi, Ekpoma and eventually the northern parts of Nigeria. It is one of the three main corridors out of the city — alongside the Benin-Lagos Road (west, towards Lagos) and the Benin-Agbor Road (east, towards Agbor).
Around Benin City, the corridor is not just the highway itself. It is a web of estates, junctions, small communities and residential roads that feed into it. For this guide, "around Auchi Road" includes:
- Ogba Zoo axis
- Ogba
- Ogba Hill
- The bypass junction
- AU Motor Park area
- Uwelu
- Iyowa
- Eyaen
- Ulegun
- Obadan
- Ahor
- Orior
- Igieduma
- Evbuotubu
- Ugbekun
- Ekhor
- Obagie
- Isihor
If you live, work or trade anywhere on that list, this guide is for you. If you are directly on the highway itself — the road from the bypass to Iyowa to Eyaen — the previous corridor article covers that in more detail.

Pickup — the Easier Option
For most people around Auchi Road, this is the single best piece of advice in this guide. The corridor is long, some communities are far from the bypass, and traffic at the junction can be heavy. Instead of driving to us, we can come to you.
How pickup works from any neighbourhood around Auchi Road
- Send your address and landmark Message 09034504707 on WhatsApp. Be specific — "Ogba Zoo axis, opposite the main gate" or "Iyowa, near the market" is far more useful than just your community name.
- Describe the shipment Tell us the item type, approximate weight and destination — local, nationwide or international.
- Confirm the price We reply with a quote for the pickup and the shipment.
- Rider is dispatched A rider or dispatch officer collects the package from your address.
- You receive your tracking number Once processed, your tracking number is sent to you by WhatsApp.
Pickup is especially useful for
- Residents of Iyowa, Eyaen, Ulegun and outer communities — where the drive into the city is longer.
- Businesses around Ogba Zoo axis sending stock or documents regularly.
- Families sending parcels to relatives abroad — where the package is bulky and travelling with it is inconvenient.
- Students around the corridor sending transcripts and documents.
- Anyone with mobility challenges or a busy workday.

What to Bring
Coming prepared makes your visit much faster. Bring these items with you.
- A valid means of identification — National ID card, driver's licence, voter's card or international passport.
- The receiver's full name, physical address and phone number.
- A postal or ZIP code for international destinations.
- An honest description of the contents.
- The declared value of what you are shipping.
- A commercial invoice or packing list for commercial goods or international parcels.
- Customs documentation where required by the destination country.
- Your packed item — boxed or bagged, sealed and ready to ship.
Packaging for the Trip In
Auchi Road can be bumpy, especially near the bypass. A properly packed box protects your shipment on the way to our office — and on the longer journey that follows.
Packaging rules that matter
- Use a new, rigid box sized to the contents. Double-walled for anything heavy or valuable.
- Wrap fragile items individually with bubble wrap, foam or paper.
- Fill every gap so nothing shifts when the box is shaken or dropped.
- Seal all six faces with strong packing tape, including the bottom.
- Waterproof the contents — place items in a poly bag inside the box for humid or rainy transit routes.
- Put sender and receiver details inside the box as well as on the outside.
- Remove all old labels and barcodes.
- Mark fragile items clearly on at least two sides.
Sending Within Nigeria
Domestic shipping is one of the most common requests from the Auchi Road corridor. Whether you are sending stock to Lagos, documents to Abuja or a gift to a relative in Port Harcourt, the process is straightforward.

| Lagos | 1 – 3 business days | Most popular corridor route |
| Abuja | 1 – 3 business days | Depends on the delivery address |
| Port Harcourt, Warri, Asaba | 1 – 3 business days | Fast route from Benin City |
| Kano, Kaduna, Jos | 2 – 4 business days | Northern destinations take longer |
| Enugu, Onitsha, Aba | 1 – 3 business days | South-east corridor |
Sending Abroad
Through the DHL global network, shipments from Auchi Road reach the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and across Africa. International shipping from any neighbourhood on the corridor is the same process.
What you need for international shipments

- The receiver's full address including postal code and country.
- The receiver's phone number and email.
- A realistic declared value. Undervaluing causes customs holds.
- Any destination-specific permits.

Pricing
Pricing is calculated from the same components as at our other offices. Understanding them helps you reduce your shipping cost intelligently.
- Destination zone — different zones have different rates.
- Chargeable weight — the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight.
- Volumetric weight — length × width × height ÷ the DHL divisor.
- Service level — express costs more than economy.
- Fuel and surcharges — these move with global conditions.
- Insurance — optional, based on declared value.
- Additional handling — for fragile or oversized items.
- Duties and taxes — for international shipments, usually paid by the receiver.
Tracking
Every shipment we process at AU Motor Park receives a unique tracking number. You can use it to follow your package from the moment it leaves our counter to the moment it is signed for.
How to track
- Collect your tracking number from the receipt or waybill given at the service point.
- Visit the official DHL tracking page online.
- Enter your tracking number and view the latest status updates.
- If the status has not changed for an unusual length of time, call or WhatsApp us for a manual check.
Need help reading a tracking update? Call 09034504707, 08130947747 or 08073596183 and our team will explain exactly where your shipment is.
Common Mistakes
These are the issues we see most often from Auchi Road customers.
- Arriving without the receiver's phone number. Without it, international delivery attempts fail.
- Writing a vague description. "Goods" and "gift" cause customs holds. Be specific.
- Under-declaring value. This risks seizure, fines and voided insurance.
- Packing loosely. The road is bumpy. A poorly packed box can crush.
- Leaving old shipping labels on the box. Old barcodes confuse scanners.
- Forgetting your ID. The counter cannot process a shipment without it.
- Arriving after 6:00 PM. Drop-offs after closing move the next working day.
- Assuming there is a DHL counter in your neighbourhood. There is not — but we pick up from every one on this list.
- Losing the receipt. Without the tracking number, following up becomes much harder.
- Assuming all DHL points are the same. Confirm the office you are visiting is one of ours.
- Not checking who pays duties. Refused deliveries happen when the receiver did not expect a customs bill.
- Arriving on Sunday. All three offices are closed on Sundays.
