What Counts as "Benin-Lagos Road"
The Benin–Lagos Road is the main highway linking Benin City to Lagos, running west and southwest out of Edo State. Within reach of Benin City, the corridor takes in a long list of communities, estates and landmarks that people search for by name every day.
For practical purposes, the part of the corridor most relevant to our Benin City service points includes:
- Oluku
- Ugbowo
- Iguosa
- S&T Barracks
- Ekosodin
- Obe
- Ute
- Ovia North-East axis
- The bypass
- Uselu (western approach)
- Ugbor
- Oregbeni
If you live, work, trade or drive anywhere along that list, this article is written for you. The question is not whether DHL can move your package from the corridor — it can, easily. The question is which counter to drive to, or whether you should skip the drive entirely and let us come to you.
Why There Is No Counter on the Road Itself
Let us be direct about this, because it saves you time.
We do not have a DHL service point sitting directly on the Benin–Lagos Road. There are businesses along the corridor that advertise courier and logistics services, and you may see DHL-branded signage or hear of a "DHL point" in one or two locations. The three service points operated under us are the ones listed in this article — and none of them is physically on the Benin–Lagos expressway itself.
What we do have is very close proximity. Our Egor main head office at 5 Textile Mill Road sits within easy reach of the Oluku, Ugbowo, Iguosa and S&T stretch, which is the densest part of the Benin–Lagos corridor nearest to Benin City. And our AU Motor Park office sits just after the bypass, which is the junction where the Benin–Lagos Road connects towards Benin Auchi Road.
Our Three Benin City Service Points
All three handle the same core services — international express shipping, documents, parcels, nationwide delivery, freight enquiries and packaging materials. Here they are in full.

Area-by-Area Guide
Here is a more detailed breakdown for the specific communities along the corridor, including what to expect when you leave the highway and head into town.
Oluku and Iguosa
If you are in Oluku or Iguosa, you are on the western edge of Benin City and close to the Benin–Lagos Road proper. Your nearest office is Egor at 5 Textile Mill Road. The drive takes you off the highway and into the Egor area — straightforward in normal traffic, though the Ugbowo junction can be slow at peak hours.
- Oluku
- Iguosa
- Ovia North-East
- Nearest: Egor
Ugbowo and S&T
Ugbowo and S&T Barracks sit between the highway and the city. Egor is your closest office, and it is also the office best set up for commercial shipments and business accounts — useful if you are shipping regularly from the UNIBEN or hospital axis.
- Ugbowo
- S&T Barracks
- UNIBEN axis
- Nearest: Egor
Ekosodin
Ekosodin sits on the Ugbowo side of the city. Egor is again your nearest office. This is a common pickup point for students sending transcripts, certificates and admission documents abroad — a service we handle frequently.
- Ekosodin
- Student documents
- Nearest: Egor
Obe and Ute
Coming in from Obe or Ute, you are approaching Benin City from the western side. Egor at Textile Mill Road is the shortest run into the city from that direction.
- Obe
- Ute
- Nearest: Egor
The bypass junction
The bypass is the point where the Benin–Lagos Road connects towards Benin Auchi Road and the northern part of the city. If you are near the bypass or using it to move between corridors, AU Motor Park is your office — it sits just immediately after the bypass on Benin Auchi Road.
- The bypass
- Benin Auchi Road
- Nearest: AU Motor Park
Ugbor and Oregbeni
On the western approach to the city, Egor remains your best option. It is a direct run via Textile Mill Road.
- Ugbor
- Oregbeni
- Nearest: Egor

Sending on Your Way Out of Town
One big advantage of living or working along the Benin–Lagos Road is that you can drop your shipment off on your way in or out of the city, rather than making a separate trip.
If you are heading out of Benin City towards Lagos
- Egor is your best stop before you reach the highway — it is on the city side of the corridor.
- Drop off early in the day if you want your shipment to move that same working day.
- Get your receipt and tracking number before you continue your journey.
If you are coming into Benin City from Lagos
- You will pass the corridor before you reach the city centre.
- Egor is convenient if you are heading to the Ugbowo or Egor side.
- AU Motor Park is convenient if you are using the bypass towards Benin Auchi Road or the north of the city.
If you are travelling through, not stopping
- Do not force a detour into heavy traffic just to drop a package.
- Send your shipment details to 08130947747 and ask about pickup at your address or a convenient stop.
- This is often the most practical option for long-distance drivers, traders and travellers.
What You Can Send
Our Benin City service points handle a wide range of shipments, both locally and internationally:

- University transcripts, certificates and admission letters
- Contracts, affidavits and legal documents
- Bank documents, invoices and business correspondence
- Passports and travel documents (check destination requirements first)
- Visas, applications and embassy submissions
Parcels and Packages

- Phones, laptops and electronics (with proper documentation)
- Cosmetics, skincare and personal care products

What to Bring
Coming prepared makes the whole visit much faster. Bring these:
- A valid means of identification — National ID card, driver's licence, voter's card or international passport.
- The receiver's full name, physical address and phone number.
- A postal or ZIP code for international destinations.
- An honest description of the contents.
- The declared value of what you are shipping.
- A commercial invoice or packing list for commercial goods or international parcels.
- Customs documentation where required by the destination country.
Packing Along the Corridor
If you are packing at home in Oluku, Ugbowo, Iguosa or anywhere along the corridor, these rules apply the same way as anywhere else in the city.
- Use a new, rigid box sized to the contents.
- Wrap fragile items individually with bubble wrap or foam.
- Fill all empty space so nothing shifts in transit.
- Seal every edge — top, bottom and all four sides — with strong packing tape.
- Put the recipient's address inside the box too in case the outer label is damaged.
- Remove old labels and barcodes so scanners do not read the wrong information.
- Mark fragile items clearly and tell our staff at the counter.
- Use DHL envelopes for documents — lightweight and bend-resistant.
Best Option: Book a Pickup
For anyone living or working along the Benin–Lagos corridor, this is often the single best piece of advice in this article. The corridor is long, traffic is unpredictable, and a detour into the city can cost you an hour or more. Instead of driving to us, we can come to you.
How pickup works
- Send your pickup address and a landmark Message 08130947747 on WhatsApp with your address — whether that is an estate in Oluku, a house in Iguosa, an office in Ugbowo, or a shop near the bypass.
- Describe the shipment Tell us the item type, approximate weight and destination.
- Confirm the price We reply with a quote for the pickup and the shipment.
- Rider is dispatched A rider or dispatch officer collects the package from your address.
- You receive your tracking number Once processed, your tracking number is sent to you.
Pickup is especially useful for:
- Long-distance drivers who do not want to leave the highway.
- Traders along the corridor sending multiple packages.
- Students in Ugbowo or Ekosodin shipping documents abroad.
- Residents of Oluku and Iguosa who would otherwise face a long drive in.
- Anyone with mobility challenges or a busy workday.
Tracking Your Shipment
Every shipment we process from Benin City — whether you dropped it at Egor, AU Motor Park or Benin Agbor Road, or we picked it up from your address — receives a unique tracking number.
- Collect your tracking number from the receipt or waybill given at the service point.
- Visit the official DHL tracking page online.
- Enter your tracking number and view the latest status updates.
- If the status has not changed for an unusual length of time, call or WhatsApp us for a manual check.
Need help reading a tracking update? Contact any of our offices — 09034504707, 08130947747 or 08073596183 — and our team will explain exactly where your shipment is.
Delivery Times and Costs
Delivery times depend on the destination, the service chosen and how quickly customs clears the shipment. The table below gives a general guide.
| Destination | Typical Delivery Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Within Benin City | Same day (if booked before 12:00 PM) | Local dispatch across Benin City and environs |
| Lagos | 1 – 3 business days | Especially relevant if you are already driving the corridor |
| Abuja, Port Harcourt, other Nigerian cities | 1 – 3 business days | Depends on the state and delivery address |
| United Kingdom & Europe | 2 – 5 business days | Customs may add time |
| United States & Canada | 3 – 6 business days | Destination city and customs affect timing |
| Middle East | 2 – 5 business days | Documentation must be complete |
| Asia & China | 3 – 7 business days | Commercial shipments may require extra paperwork |
What determines your price?
- Actual weight — the physical weight of the package on a scale.
- Volumetric weight — calculated from length × width × height ÷ the DHL divisor. The higher of the two weights is what you pay for.
- Destination zone — farther destinations cost more.
- Service level — express, economy or freight.
- Additional services — insurance, signature on delivery, special handling.
- Customs duties and taxes — usually paid by the receiver, depending on the shipping terms.
What You Cannot Send
For safety, security and legal compliance, some items cannot be shipped. Prohibited items generally include:
- Explosives, firearms, ammunition and weapons
- Flammable liquids, gases and combustible materials
- Illegal drugs and controlled substances
- Hazardous chemicals and toxic substances
- Counterfeit goods and pirated items
- Live animals and certain animal products
- Human remains, organs and biological samples (unless specially arranged)
- Currency, negotiable instruments and cash
- Perishable food items without proper arrangement
- Lithium batteries shipped without correct documentation and packaging
Some items are restricted rather than banned — meaning they can be shipped, but only with the right documentation, packaging or approvals. Examples include electronics, cosmetics, medical devices, alcohol and certain agricultural products.
Always confirm before shipping. Call any of our Benin City offices and describe the item. It takes two minutes and can save you a rejected shipment.
Common Mistakes on the Corridor
These are the issues we see most often from customers along the Benin–Lagos Road corridor.
- Assuming there is a DHL counter on the highway. There is not. Use one of the three offices in this article.
- Driving into peak traffic unnecessarily. Book a pickup instead.
- Leaving home without the receiver's phone number. Without it, international delivery attempts fail.
- Arriving after 6:00 PM. Drop-offs after closing move the next working day.
- Packing loosely in a rush. The corridor is bumpy; a poorly packed box can crush.
- Under-declaring value. This causes customs problems and voids insurance.
- Using vague descriptions like "goods" or "gift" on the waybill.
- Forgetting that documents need an envelope, not a box. A flat DHL envelope is cheaper and safer for paper.
- Losing the receipt. Without the tracking number, follow-up becomes much harder.
- Handing a package to an unverified "DHL point". Always use one of our three offices or request pickup directly.
